Become the best advocate that you can for your business––and the hearth industry––by attending the 2018 Tom Pugh Government Affairs Academy. Graduates of the Government Affairs Academy have gone on to help spearhead legislative initiatives in their home states each year since the program started in 2006. Designed especially for HPBA’s members, this program is 2 1/2 days of specialized training on media relations, lobbying state and federal lawmakers and grassroots basics, and other issues important to the hearth industry. The program concludes with an exciting day of meetings on Capitol Hill!

Learn how an Academy graduate put his media and hearth issue training to use. Randy Toupin, of Rocky Mountain HPBA, and graduate of the 2014 class, played an important role in defeating the proposed winter-long ban on residential woodburning in Utah when he was asked by a local news station for a response. Watch the video.
